Simulacrum

“Simulacrum” is a photo series from January 2022 that intends to question the contemporary dichotomies around daily life almost 2 years after the pandemic's beginning.

The shadows can be metaphors for how the exterior experience reflects on our mental health, about dealing with grieving, and about the growth of avoidance of science.

“A simulacrum replaces reality with its representation.”

Contemplation

The sunlight paints the walls,

we stay home not to get sick.

There are too many ghosts around now.

Too much grief.

Too many of us believe in the

shadows from Plato’s cave.

Prisoners with their heads chained,

all they see are fake news.

Lensless photography battles

the tries to fixate perspectives

even if it is through ephemeral,

cloudy representations of us

staring at the ceiling on Sunday mornings.

Lígia Francisco, 2022.

"Simulacrum” was shot without using lens.

See it in person!
